ABC at the Luxe Hotel

August 23rd, 2007 | Posted in Networking at 12:32 pm by jen

Nate & I belong to the LA chapter of ABC - the Association of Bridal Consultants. It’s a great group of people in the industry that get together every other month to network and hang out. We’ve met (and worked) with some really wonderful people in this organization. This month’s meeting was held at the beautiful Luxe Hotel on Sunset, and we were the featured photographers of the night. We had a great time and of course photographed everything and everyone! Here’s a look at the fun:

The beautiful florals were created by Nesly’s Floral Design & Events

Fabulous see-through tables by Girari.

It’s all about the food…

There’s always lots ot win at the ABC raffles.

Monique Matlock of The Knot & Kelley Lee Gin of Picture Perfect Events.

We were entertained all night by Troup.

The lovely ladies… Melissa Allen of The Ebell Club of Los Angeles, and Mary Sushinski of Occasions.

Lighting can make all the different at an event. The beautiful ambiance was created by Jason Fox of Bentley Meeker West.

Erika & Rob at Café Pinot

August 22nd, 2007 | Posted in Weddings at 9:11 am by jen

We had such a great time with Erika & Rob this past Saturday! We started out at the Bonaventure Hotel for getting ready shots, then walked them across the street to Café Pinot where the wedding and reception took place. Mary Sushinski of Occasions ran the flawless day with her perfect team of coordinators, Jackie Combs Floral Design created stunning flowers, Today’s the Day Weddings was a dream videographer team to work with, and Sounds Fantastic were great DJ’s with the right mix of music to keep everyone on the dance floor. Here’s a look:

Erika’s hot shoes, she even danced a tango in them!

Everything about Erika that day, from her dress to her hair piece had a stunning old world feel

The boys goofing around

Rob, ready for anything

Erika making her way to Café Pinot

Getting bustled.

The first dance.

Fun with downtown night scenes.

Angel & Erik at Villa del Sol D’oro

August 6th, 2007 | Posted in Weddings at 2:04 pm by jen

This weekend was Angel & Erik’s wedding at the beautiful Villa del Sol D’oro in Sierra Madre. The day came together perfectly with Liz Coopersmith of Silver Charm Events at the helm. Angel’s beautiful make up was by Tiffany Xiong, the ceremony music was performed by Andromeda String Quartet, our favorite DJs The DJ Pros rocked the house, and stunning flowers by Commerce Flowers. The reverend is an old family friend and his love for Angel came right through in the ceremony! We love these two and had such a fabulous time. Here’s a look:

Angel’s amazing Caroline Herrera dress.

Love this shot of the guys.

The moment Angel’s dad had to actually give her away was so emotional.

The couple gets a thumbs up from the bridal party.

Cute kisses as give aways.

Angel dancing with her kid sister Honey.

Workin’ the dance floor!

The end of the night…

Big Sur & San Francisco

August 2nd, 2007 | Posted in Personal at 1:17 pm by nate

After our amazing weekend wedding in Cambria with Debra & Doug, Jen and I drove up the coast to spend a day in Big Sur and a couple more days in San Francisco. I opted to leave the digital in the bag, and brought along my trusty F100 just for this trip. Granted, I love shooting with my D200, but sometimes I feel the need to get back to my roots, which happens to be shooting Ilford HP5 with nothing but a 50mm lens.

Stops along the way included Pfeiffer Beach, where being on the California coast reminded me of the work of Edward Weston, and you can see his influence on my beach shots. (If you don’t know his work, and are in the Los Angeles area, I encourage you to check out his exhibit at the Getty Center.)

We also stopped at Point Lobos State Reserve, where there is a large colony of sea lions and seals. My favorite shot? A picture of rocks and twigs.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium, where I took several photos of the jellyfish displays.

Jen in SF, not wanting to have her picture taken. I think I should try something like this to show off a bride’s ring.

One day, we headed up to Mill Valley for lunch. On the way up, the Golden Gate bridge looked stunning wrapped in the morning fog. On the way back, the fog had completely lifted.
