Vicki & Nick at camp

November 19th, 2006 | Posted in Engagements at 3:48 pm by jen

We are so excited to shoot Vicki & Nick’s wedding this upcoming March, as we get to go to Sayulita, Mexico for the amazing 4 day event!!! We knew these two were a fantastic couple when we first met, but they rose to a new level when they told us where they wanted to do their engagement pictures. Vicki & Nick have been camp counselors at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times for 9 and 10 years respectively. This amazing camp is for kids living with cancer, and being there was incredible. Located about 8 miles South of Idyllwild, nestled in the San Jacinto mountains, it was the perfect backdrop for this portrait session. We love shooting people in locations that mean something special, because it’s always reflected in the photos. Here’s a sample of the day:

Back at camp for five minutes and the regression begins!

This amazing cabin is painted by all the campers, here Vicki & Nick get comfy next to the offical camp song.

It may be 90 degrees here in LA, but it sure feels like fall up in the mountains.

Practicing dancing in front of an audience.

I love that moment before the actual kiss…

Showing us how the “trolly” works. A great team building game for the kids, they managed to get Nate & me up for a ride.

The last of the sun dipping behind the mountains.

Jenn & Richard Engaged in Santa Monica

November 13th, 2006 | Posted in Engagements at 5:16 pm by jen

Yet another perfect day in sunny SoCal, and who better to spend the afternoon with than Jenn & Richard? Jenn has been part of my life for, well, pretty much my entire life! Our mother’s went to school together and have know each other since they were 12 years old! Friendships like that are a rare find. Jenn & Richard also met when they were young (Jenn was 13), but were separated for years, until they reconnected recently. Never wanting to be split up again, they got engaged! They will be married next Oct in their backyard, and we are all looking forward to it. For their engagement session, we decided to do Santa Monica, starting on Main Street, and worked our way up to the pier. Here’s a peak:

Nothing more romantic than the beach at sunset…

Nate found a piece of sidewalk chalk and said “Have fun!”

Time to get a room folks… ;)

A perfect sunset to end the day

Lily and her Friends

November 12th, 2006 | Posted in Kids & Family at 12:06 pm by jen

I have had the pleasure of photographing Lily for the last 6 years (starting from when she was in the womb!). Friday marked year 6 and this time a few friends came along for the ride. Neighbors Griffin & Leland I met last year and had fun shooting, this year 2 more sibling joined the fun, Katherine & Alison. We painted, played instruments, danced, and just hung out. Here’s a little sample of the day…

Katherine eating her “bana-no” as she called it!

Beautiful Lily

Griffin on the swings, trying to go as fast as he could

Leland just about ready for nap time

Alison glowing

Lily inspecting horse tails

Sisters cooperating (now there’s a concept!)

Leland riding around

Griffin muggin’ for the camera

Inez & Arjang at UCLA

November 6th, 2006 | Posted in Engagements at 11:42 am by jen

We got to spend the afternoon with Inez & Arjang yesterday and had a blast! We’ll be documenting thier wedding this January at the Universal City Hilton, where we have not shot yet. We love being exposed to new venues, we always get insipred by being somewhere new and finding new fun spots to shoot in. We’ve been wanting to shoot at the UCLA campus for awhile now, and considering we only live 2 minutes away, it was about time we got one of our couples over there! These two did their undergrad studies there, so it all made sense. Inez’s parents really wanted a portrait of the couple in their wedding outfits to display at the event, so it was fun trekking them around campus and getting “Congratulations” shouts from all over! We ended the shoot in the Westwood Village eating Diddy Reese ice cream sandwiches and watching stars like Cate Blanchett arrive for a red carpet event for Babel. So Hollywood

UCLA has such a beautiful mix of great architecture and lush grounds…

It’s almost feeling like fall here in LA

Everybody sing… “Inez and Arjang sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G!”

This spot was completely unplanned and one of my favorites of the day

Nothing like a grand Hollywood kiss in front of a movie premiere

My FAVORITE Diddy Reese combo, chocolate chip cookies with mint ice cream. YUM!!!!

A perfect sunset ending
